Salvador Saalvedra es un artista boliviano, reside y trabaja en La Paz, Bolivia.
«Mi práctica cruza la fotografía, la arquitectura y la investigación territorial para explorar cómo se habita el espacio en contextos indígenas, anodinos y cotidianos. Trabajo desde una mirada documental que se ancla en la realidad concreta de las comunidades indígenas, rurales y periféricas, registrando con crudeza aquello que persiste, resiste o se transforma.
Me interesa el cuerpo como instrumento de lectura del territorio, la luz como lenguaje sensible y la imagen como herramienta de análisis. Entiendo el habitar no solo como una acción física, sino como una construcción simbólica, política y afectiva, que revela formas de vida que aún sobreviven —y a veces se reinventan— frente a las lógicas de extracción, desarraigo y desmemoria.
Desde el sitio, desde la experiencia directa, documento las relaciones entre arquitectura vernácula, desplazamientos, gestos cotidianos y memoria colectiva. Me interesa registrar las tensiones entre tradición y modernidad, entre lo que se pierde y lo que se adapta. En ese borde, encuentro sentidos nuevos, capas de lectura que cruzan lo material con lo espiritual.
Mi trabajo busca generar archivos visuales que no solo sirvan para observar, sino para pensar desde el lugar, para proponer nuevas formas de lectura territorial y proyectar futuros más arraigados, más justos y más nuestros.»

Salvador Saalvedra is a Bolivian artist born and based in La Paz, Bolivia.
«My practice intersects photography, architecture, and territorial research to explore how space is inhabited in Indigenous, anodyne, and everyday contexts. I work from a documentary perspective anchored in the concrete reality of Indigenous, rural, and peripheral communities, crudely recording what persists, resists, or is transformed.
I am interested in the body as an instrument for interpreting the territory, light as a sensitive language, and the image as a tool of analysis. I understand inhabitation not only as a physical action, but as a symbolic, political, and affective construction that reveals ways of life that still survive—and sometimes reinvent themselves—in the face of logics of extraction, uprooting, and forgetfulness.
From the site, from direct experience, I document the relationships between vernacular architecture, displacement, everyday gestures, and collective memory. I am interested in recording the tensions between tradition and modernity, between what is lost and what adapts. At this edge, I find new meanings, layers of interpretation that intertwine the material with the spiritual.
My work seeks to generate visual archives that serve not only to observe, but also to think from the place, to propose new ways of reading the territory and to project futures that are more grounded, more just, and more our own.»
