Saavedra continuously explores the identity of architectural spaces, striving to connect their genuine forms with the routines of local inhabitants. In the exhibition La Paz: Lights and Shadows, the artist employs black and white photography to reveal details that are often hidden in the vibrancy of everyday colors: the sharp illogical contrasts; the layers of houses cascading across the mountains; the beams of light slicing through the contours of deep slopes.
From a broad perspective, the scene is already busy; zooming in, we discover even more elements within its details. The mundane rhythms of the locals stand in sharp contrast to the surreal architecture of the city. Together, they create a new urban landscape where the interdependence between the social fabric and the cityscape manifests.
